Have you ever heard someone say I’ve got to get right with God?
Mostly likely you have , quite possibly it was you who may have said it.
Often times when people make this statement they have strayed away from their relationship with Christ and have fallen prey to the schemes of the world.
When I say schemes of the world I’m not referring to a get rich quick scheme (i.e. 6 figure work from home business in 30 days).
I mean the eternally deceptive scheme that the prince of this world, Satan, provides for God’s people to be distracted with the worldly pursuits that keep them wanting and away from God.
These pursuits (career advancement, relationships, kids activities) are not sinful in and of themselves but the distraction they provide in keeping us from having a consistent fellowship with the Lord our God is something we must be aware of.
So what can we do to avoid this?
Reorder your priorities. Make sure that you are intentionally scheduling time to fellowship (praise, worship, study) with God.
This intentional focus on God will allow you to reorder or maybe even abandon some of your pursuits as you hear from Him clearly without distraction.
Colossians 3:1-2 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
