Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on Earth, as it is in Heaven.

I’ve said the Lord’s prayer many times, in fact my Mom ‘helped’ me learn it at the tender age of 3.

But in all of the times I’ve recited that prayer I’ve never really understood its full meaning.

You see the Lord’s Prayer that I had been saying all of my life, as more a ritual, was an actual mandate of how we are supposed to live on Earth as citizens of God’s Kingdom.

What gets lost in the religion of the world was the fact that God created man to colonize the Earth as a territory of Heaven.

In doing so we were supposed to transform this world so that the beauty and culture of the invisible world of Heaven would be seen throughout the visible world, Earth.

But then man made a fatal mistake and was separated from the Kingdom of Heaven and sin entered into the Earth and corrupted it.

Fortunately for us Jesus Christ’s atonement for all sin allowed man to restart the original Kingdom of Heaven mandate: Colonize the Earth and all therein for God’s glory with the standard set forth by the Kingdom of Heaven.

However, many Christians today, while saved from a doctrinal standpoint, do not understand or have not been transformed by the concept of The Kingdom.

In fact Jesus tell us in Matthew 24:14 that He will not return until the Gospel of the Kingdom is preached throughout the Earth.

This good news of the kingdom will be proclaimed in all the world as a testimony to all nations. And then the end will come. – Matthew 24:14 HCSB

So what can we do?

Start living the Kingdom lifestyle today.

How do you do that?

Start small.

Start with your family.

Start by showing more grace at some of your family’s most glaring flaws. Pitch in for a couple of extra chores that aren’t yours and most importantly do it all with a smile and a gracious heart. Your family will begin to notice a change and it will be infectious. Kingdom living and behavior is infectious because it’s how the colonization process was designed so that it could expand throughout the Earth.

Next take your reformed Kingdom lifestyle outside of home to your job and any other activities that you regularly participate in.

Lastly, continue to seek God’s counsel on how your talents can benefit Kingdom expansion. Even if you’re not in your ideal job or career ask God to continue to transform your behavior and work ethic so all who encounter you will see the Kingdom of Heaven in all of your actions.

Most importantly thank God for your citizenship in His eternal Kingdom! He has given us access to the unlimited resources of His Kingdom and we should not be shy about sharing them with the world through our actions each and everyday.
