1 Thessalonians 5: 16 – 18 says:
Rejoice always, Pray constantly. Give thanks in everything, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
That sounds pretty simple. But speaking for myself I rarely follow those instructions.
Why is that?
It’s so easy to forget the mundane, yet amazing things God provides everyday.
Remember how the Israelite’s disobeyed God’s instructions after being provided manna and quail to their hearts content and having the Holy Spirit personally escort them by a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night?
The truth is our sinful nature that is tied to our flesh will always leave us feeling ungrateful for the everyday blessings God provides.
When we only go to God based on our circumstance and not our reverence we never develop a true relationship with Him.
The key is to find a way to be in God’s presence constantly through our worship, study, and fellowship with other believers.
What areas in your life are you taking for granted that God provides?
