Close to the Father
Like most four year olds, my daughter has a hard time following directions.
One morning I went into her room and instructed her to brush her teeth and go to her playroom after finishing.
As I was working out in the basement I heard footsteps rumbling down the stairs and then my daughter came into view.
I paused and asked my daughter why she wasn’t in her playroom.
She simply responded by saying: “Daddy, I just want to be where you are.”
In Psalms 27:4, King David expresses his desire to be with the Father:
One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple.
Being in the presence of the Father is the only place you want to be.
Prayer: Lord please change our hearts to desire only You. Please remove the distractions from my life that keep me from focusing on You.
Action: Is your first desire to be in the presence of God or something else? Be honest with yourself and ask God to remove anything from the throne of your life that isn’t Him.
