Vote or Die
Citizen Change is a political service group, founded in 2004 by music mogul Sean Combs, also known as P. Diddy, to help raise awareness of the importance of voting to the younger generation.
One of the main messages that emerged from the campaign was the phrase, Vote or Die, which sought to emphasize the importance of voting versus the alternative of not doing so.
While casting your ballot is a vital part of participating in a democracy the consequences of not doing so will not result in fatality.
However, there are some choices that, if not made, have severe eternal consequences.
In Matthew 7:21-23 we see the consequence of not having elected Jesus as your Lord and Savior:
Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
Accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior is the only way to cast your vote for eternal life.
Prayer: Lord, we know elections do have consequences, but You are sovereign above all outcomes. Let us trust that Your will is being done in this season amidst the current turmoil in this nation. Let us be a light in difficult times and let us speak kind words and offer a listening ear to those in need.
Action: If you haven’t do so already, go out and vote! Don’t say your vote doesn’t matter. If you’re not sure how to vote, pray and ask God to direct your choices. Many people died for your right to vote. Voting is part of Kingdom stewardship as we exercise the dominion God has given us over all of the earth.
