Being able to reliably identify a person is an important security measure, especially when it pertains to air travel.
Passed by Congress in 2005, the REAL ID Act enacted the 9/11 Commission’s recommendation that the federal government “set standards for the issuance of sources of identification, such as driver’s licenses.”
In layman’s terms the REAL ID Act was created to make identification documents harder to counterfeit.
Often times when people seek to do wrong they do it under an identity that is not their own.
In James 1:22-25 we see the importance of correctly identifying yourself:
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.
When you truly believe in Jesus Christ there is no mistaking your identity.
Prayer: Lord don’t let me rely on the worlds standard to define who I am. Let me trust in Your goodness and Your mercy so the world will identify that I abide in You.
Action: Have you identified who you are in Christ? Ask Him and He will answer you.
