Duck Tales the animated series premiered in 1987 following the adventures of Scrooge McDuck and his three nephews Huey, Duey, and Luey.

Most of the storylines focus on Scrooge McDuck and the boys seeking out a long lost treasure or thwarting villains from stealing Scrooge McDuck’s vast fortune.

Scrooge McDuck’s wealth is so immense that one of his favorite past times is taking a dive into his money pit.

The money pit is a vast storage vault filled with gold coins and other treasures he has acquired throughout his lifetime.

While being wealthy is not a sin we see the danger of coveting riches illustrated in Luke 12:16-21:

And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’

“Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’

“But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’

“This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God

Don’t let pursuit of temporal treasure cause you to forfeit your eternal reward.

Prayer: Lord I am sorry for thinking that if I just had a certain amount of money I would be secure. Please forgive me and let me focus on the eternal rewards that are gained by submitting all of my ways to You.

Action: God knows you need money. Ask yourself an honest question this week. Do you have more fear of losing all that you’ve earned or everything that’s been promised to you by God?
