Auto manufacturer Toyota recently launched a new ad campaign to coincide with their sponsorship of the olympic and paralympic games.
The flagship commercial of the campaign features various athletes speaking words of affirmation and encouragement not only to themselves but also to the viewers.
Those words overlaid with a montage of the athletes overcoming both psychological and physical barriers seek to illustrate that anything is possible if you just begin.
In Zechariah 4:6-10 an angel declares that the Lord says even meager beginnings are reason to rejoice:
Then he said to me, “This is what the Lord says to Zerubbabel: It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. Nothing, not even a mighty mountain, will stand in Zerubbabel’s way; it will become a level plain before him! And when Zerubbabel sets the final stone of the Temple in place, the people will shout: ‘May God bless it! May God bless it!’”
Then another message came to me from the Lord: “Zerubbabel is the one who laid the foundation of this Temple, and he will complete it. Then you will know that the Lord of Heaven’s Armies has sent me. Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.
No matter how difficult, when you start the work of the Lord it will not fail.
Prayer: Lord let us rejoice today! We are Your handiwork created for good works that cannot and will not fail. Thank You for using me as Your chosen vessel.
Action: Are you dealing with something that seems impossible? That’s ok. Take the first step and watch God begin to work.
