Dr. Victor Fries is a brilliant cryogenicist who attempts to cure his wife, Nora, from a rare terminal disease.
When funding for his experimental cryogenic treatments is pulled by his benefactors, Fries suffers a laboratory mishap and is transformed into the super villain Mr. Freeze.
Now capable of surviving at sub zero temperatures, Mr. Freeze lives a life devoid of feelings, save the sorrow his heart maintains for his wife.
In Ezekiel 36:23b-27, Ezekiel prophesies that the Lord will restore the hearts of those in the nation of Israel, foreshadowing the promise of salvation for all who believe:
Then the nations will know that I am the Lord, declares the Sovereign Lord, when I am proved holy through you before their eyes.
“‘For I will take you out of the nations; I will gather you from all the countries and bring you back into your own land.
I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols.
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.
And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.”
The Spirit of the Lord provides a new heart for all those who believe.
Prayer: Today I cry out for Your forgiveness for the times my heart has gone cold toward those I am called to love. Restore my heart to the place where it can be used to show Your love towards those I encounter.
Action: Are there any relationships in your life that were warm and loving and are now frigid? This week seek God, pray for restoration of those relationships and extend the olive branch of forgiveness.
