Someday at Christmas is the first song from Stevie Wonder’s same titled Christmas album released in 1967.
The song longingly speaks of a time when things will be made right in all of the earth.
Someday at Christmas there’ll be no tears
When all men are equal and no man has fears
One shinning moment one prayer away
From our world today
Someday all our dreams will come to be
Someday in a world where men are free
Maybe not in time for you and me
But someday at Christmas time
In Revelation 7:9-12,16-17 Jesus’ disciple John recalls the vision he witnessed when this ‘someday’ will become a reality.
After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice:
“Salvation belongs to our God,
who sits on the throne,
and to the Lamb.”
All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying:
“Amen!
Praise and glory
and wisdom and thanks and honor
and power and strength
be to our God for ever and ever.
Amen!”
‘Never again will they hunger;
never again will they thirst.
The sun will not beat down on them,’
nor any scorching heat.
For the Lamb at the center of the throne
will be their shepherd;
‘he will lead them to springs of living water.’
‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.
Someday awaits an eternity with Jesus.
Prayer: Lord I thank You that someday I will be in Your presence forever. No material gains or any amount of time on earth can compare to an eternity spent with You.
Action: Find a way to be generous this Christmas season. Don’t wait for someday to meet the needs of those around you. Bring heaven to earth today.
