If you’ve had a car for any length of time you’ve probably (hopefully) taken it to an auto shop for an alignment.

Usually when the process is completed a technician will show you a before and after printout of your car’s alignment.

There have been many times when after looking at the printout, I realized my car had been misaligned even though it wasn’t apparent to me when I was driving.

While Proverbs 21:2 subtly warns of the dangers of misalignment, John 15:5-8 makes paramount the importance of being fully aligned with Jesus.

A person may think their own ways are right, but the Lord weighs the heart.

I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.

If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

Staying fully aligned in Christ requires daily submission to His word.

Prayer: Lord I repent for the times I convinced myself that my worldly desires were Your desires. Create an appetite in me where what I consume allows me to produce the fruits of the spirit.

Action: This week take a heart check. Get in the daily practice of consulting the Holy Spirit to make your desires are aligned with God’s.
