| If you’ve ever had a credit card for any length of time you’ve probably received a balance transfer offer. One of the main selling points of a balance transfer is the ability to move current debt to a lower interest rate for a fixed period of time allowing you to pay high off interest debt much faster. Credit card companies use these kinds of offers to entice consumers to use their credit card products and services in the future. In Romans 8:2-6 Paul talks about an enticing transfer offer that is only available to those who accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior: Because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. Jesus Christ has forever transferred the balance of sin from your account. Prayer: Lord thank You for taking on my sin. It was a balance I could never transfer or afford to repay on my own. I thank You for Your grace and mercy and I live in a debt of gratitude for Your eternal sacrifice. Action: If you’ve never accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, take advantage of the only balance transfer that can make restitution for all of your sins.
