Last year a good friend of mine and I visited L.A. for a couple of days.
While we were there we did quite a bit of sight-seeing.
One of the most famous attractions we saw was the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Spanning nearly 1.5 miles, the Hollywood Walk of Fame pays homage to those thought to have achieved the greatest heights in the entertainment industry in the areas of film, television, music, radio, and theater.
In Matthew 3:13-17 we see Jesus fully honored before He achieved His purpose or performed any miracles:
Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him. John would have prevented him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?”
But Jesus answered him, “Let it be so now; for thus it is fitting for us to fulfil all righteousness.”
Then he consented.
And when Jesus was baptized, he went up immediately from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and alighting on him; and lo, a voice from heaven, saying, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
God celebrates who you are, not what you’ve accomplished.
Prayer: Lord, I repent for the times I’ve tried to earn Your favor. Your mercy and grace is a gift that I am grateful for. Today, allow me to accept it fully and enjoy it from a place of victory.
Action: How many times do you try to earn what God gives freely? This week, spend some time in God’s presence without any pressure to accomplish anything.
DID YOU KNOW? – BREAK BREAD TRIVIA
To be nominated for the Hollywood Walk of Fame a person must have demonstrated outstanding achievements for at least five years in one of the following five categories: movies, television, music, radio, or theater. The late country music singer Gene Autry is the only person to receive a star in all five categories.
