Before Tik-Tok, there was Vine.
Founded in 2012, Vine was a short-form video hosting service where users could share six-second-long looping video clips.
Often, people in Vine videos would chant ‘Do It For the Vine’, ‘I Ain’t Gonna Do it’ before performing silly or dangerous attention grabbing antics for the camera.
In John 15:5-8 we learn of the true Vine through which all good things are done:
“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.
Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned.
But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!
When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.
Do it through The Vine or you ain’t gonna do it.
Prayer: Lord Jesus thank You being the Vine. I repent for the times I thought I could do it on my own. Thank You for keeping me close to You despite my shortcomings. Allow me to show this grace and mercy to all who I encounter.
Action: Next time you’re outside see if you notice any branches lying around. Observe how the branches have withered when unattached to its source.
