At the Hawking Radiation convention in 2015, renowned theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking was quoted as saying “If you feel you are in a black hole, don’t give up. There’s a way out.”

Conventional thought is that a black hole’s gravitational pull is so strong that not even light can escape from it.

Hawking believed that something completely disappearing inside of a black hole violated the laws of the universe and that either information entering a black hole is translated into a “hologram” on the edge of the black hole itself, or it passes through and enters an alternative universe.

In 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17 the apostle Paul shares a vision of how those who live (and have lived) in Christ will be translated into a new form:

And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope.

For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died.

We tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not meet him ahead of those who have died.

For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God.

First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves.

Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.

Then we will be with the Lord forever.

Accepting Jesus Christ translates into an eternity in His presence.

Prayer: Lord Jesus thank You for allowing us to live in eternity with You beyond this earthly life. May I be thankful everyday that my final form will be the heavenly one You ordained from the day of my creation.

Action: Sometimes it can be tough to translate the difficulties of this life into an eternity with Christ. This week, take some time to meditate on the scripture in Romans 8:28.

DID YOU KNOW? – BREAK BREAD TRIVIA

The boundary of no escape in a black hole is termed the event horizon. In 1997 the movie Event Horizon, directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, featured a space crew that encountered a demonic force that came from a black hole.
