The 2022 midterm elections took place on Tuesday, November 8th. Not surprisingly, many people were concerned about the outcome of various races for political office. For some who put their hope in a certain candidate or party an unfavorable outcome could lead to worry or despair. In Luke 12:25-31, Jesus explains why the things of this life should not cause us to worry: Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest? Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith! And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well. God’s provision is never determined by a vote. Prayer: Lord, I know that in Your Kingdom there is only one vote that counts. Thank You for all you’ve given me and for continually guiding me down the path of righteousness. Action: Take a moment and celebrate God for giving you eternal victory. Regardless of the recent election results, your provision from God remains unchanged. |

It’s ok to have a political opinion. It’s ok to care who wins. It’s not ok to let those things affect how you represent God when you interact with others. |
