Although born over 2500 years ago, the teachings of Chinese philosopher Confucius are still influential today in China and East Asia.

Many of his teachings, now known as Confucianism, emphasized personal piety, correctness of social relationships, justice, kindness, and sincerity.

There was also a practicality and wisdom expressed in many of his sayings:

The man who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.

In Matthew 17:18-21 Jesus shares that even with the smallest amount of faith great things can be accomplished:

Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of the boy, and he was healed at that moment.

Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”

He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain,

‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

No matter the size of your faith, miracles await when you put your trust in Jesus.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for the gift of faith bestowed on us by the Holy Spirit.

Let us believe without doubting when we ask for things in Your mighty name.

May the Holy Spirit align the desires of our hearts with Your own.

Action

Have you been praying for things that haven’t yet come to pass?

This week take a moment and ask God to align your heart with His.

Whether it be the faith to see it through or a realignment of your desires, He will provide an answer.

DID YOU KNOW? – BREAK BREAD TRIVIA

The song It Shall Be Done, from JJ Hairston’s album Believe Again, is a great song of praise celebrating our faith in God. Some of the lyrics directly reference a quintessential scripture about faith found in Mark 11:23.
