Tha Crossroads by Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, is a song that explores the grief that comes with losing a loved one and the hope of being able to see them again.

The song was originally dedicated to the group’s friend Wallace Laird III after his passing, but also became a tribute to their late mentor Eric Wright (Eazy E) and other deceased family members.

Despite the song’s somber theme, it became one of the group’s most popular songs in large part due to the universal questions it posed about life and death.

In 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18: Paul shares a revelation of what will happen with our loved ones who have passed away:

Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.

For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.

According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.

For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.

After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.

And so we will be with the Lord forever.

Therefore encourage one another with these words.

At the proper time, all those who believe will be reunited forever in Christ.

Prayer

Lord Jesus thank You!

Even though You have conquered death we still mourn for those we have lost in this life.

Restore our hope today and renew our faith that Your sacrifice will allow us to be reunited for an eternity with You and those we have cherished most while on earth.

Action

Have you lost (or do you know anyone who lost) a close friend or family member recently?

This week pray for healing for yourself (or someone else) to overcome the grief and anxiety with peace and joy that only the Lord can provide.
