During the 2002 NFL season, Mike Tice head coach of the Minnesota Vikings implemented a strategy he dubbed as the Randy Ratio. The plan was to get Randy Moss, the team’s best player, directly involved in at least 40% of the plays on offense. In the 5 games where the Randy Ratio was achieved the Vikings were victorious in 4 of them. Conversely, the Vikings lost 10 of the 11 games where they failed to meet the Randy Ratio. In Deuteronomy 11:13-15,26-28 the Israelites receive a stern warning from Moses about the consequences of not following God’s commands: So if you faithfully obey the commands I am giving you today to love the Lord your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul then I will send rain on your land in its season, both autumn and spring rains, so that you may gather in your grain, new wine and olive oil. I will provide grass in the fields for your cattle, and you will eat and be satisfied. See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse, the blessing if you obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today; The curse if you disobey the commands of the Lord your God and turn from the way that I command you today by following other gods, which you have not known. Following God’s commands will always lead to victory. |
