| They say you should never meet your heroes. But whoever coined that phrase never met Chris Mortensen. On August 3rd, 2012 I had a chance encounter with Chris Mortensen in an airport lounge after a flight delay left us both stranded in Atlanta. At the time Chris Mortensen was one of the preeminent NFL reporters for ESPN and I was just a young man with a dream to one day cover the NFL in some capacity. After gathering up the courage to introduce myself, Chris and I spoke at length on a variety of topics including football, family, and faith for over an hour. Despite his busy schedule, he took the time to make me feel welcome and created a memory that will last a lifetime. In Philippians 2:5-11, Paul shares how Jesus boldly gave His life for all of mankind without any regard for His deity: In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Jesus held back nothing so you could have everything. |

| Dear Lord, thank You! Because of your willingness to lay down Your life I have inherited an eternity in Your presence. Today we rejoice because we know Your Love has conquered all. |
