The reality show Temptation Island is built on a simple, yet paradoxical premise. Play with fire without getting burned. The show separates unmarried couples to commingle with other attractive people of the opposite sex in a test of each partner’s faithfulness. In 1 Corinthians 6:17-20, Paul shares the dangerous consequences of sexual immorality which echoes the scripture also found in Proverbs 6:25-28: 1 Corinthians 6:17-20 But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. Proverbs 6:25-28 Do not lust in your heart after her beauty or let her captivate you with her eyes. For a prostitute can be had for a loaf of bread, but another man’s wife preys on your very life. Can a man scoop fire into his lap without his clothes being burned? Can a man walk on hot coals without his feet being scorched? Flirting with temptation will always leave you burned. |
