There are parts of the human body that don’t appear to be particularly useful.

Things like your appendix and wisdom teeth seem to be more trouble than they are worth as they are often removed if they develop an infection.

While certain body parts may not be as useful today, they were nonetheless designed with a purpose to help the body function better.

In 1 Corinthians 12:19-27, Paul underscores the importance of all parts of the body of Christ:

But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.

If they were all one part, where would the body be?

As it is, there are many parts, but one body.

The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor.

And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, while our presentable parts need no special treatment.

But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other.

If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

Every part of the body of Christ is useful.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for allowing me to be part of the body of Christ.

Today, I ask that You continue to lead me into the divine purpose You have set before me.

Help me to continue to be Your living witness to all those I encounter.

Action

This week take some time and write down 3 to 5 things that you know God has called you to do.

Pray for His provision and mercy to be able to accomplish these works.

DID YOU KNOW? – BREAK BREAD TRIVIA

Scientific theories have pointed to the appendix as being a safe house for good gut bacteria.

Additionally, it was thought that wisdom teeth were a set of backup teeth to replace damaged molars.
