Finish Strong

I ran track in high school.

I had some good moments but truth be told I was very disappointed in how my track career turned out.

Although I had some injury issues the one thing I regret most is not being able to finish races better.

Often times I would get off to a good start but by the end of the race I didn’t have enough stamina left to finish as strong as I had begun.

In Hebrews 12:1-2 the author speaks of finding the stamina through Christ to finish the race set forth before us:

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

When you’re in Christ you may stumble but you will always finish strong.

Prayer: Lord give me the strength to finish the work You have begun in me. Don’t let me fall short of the finish line. Let me rely on Your strength and not my own.

Action: Where are the areas in your life where you have been coming up short? Are those the same areas that you are relying on your strength rather than God’s? Ask God for His strength to help you improve in those areas.
