My wife’s family does an amazing job with family reunions.
On both sides of her family genuine efforts are made to gather on a regular basis and not let too much time pass without connecting.
During the past year getting together proved to be a challenge for many families, but as more people are vaccinated and travel restrictions lessen, family reunions will become the norm again.
In Matthew 12:46-50 Jesus was confronted with a question about His family:
While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him. Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.” He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”
When you fellowship with others in Christ, you’re with family.
Prayer: Lord thank You for the ability to gather in person (or virtually) and celebrate Your goodness and Your mercy. Let us not forsake the gathering during a season where the enemy wants to isolate us, destroy our witness, and weaken our faith. Let us hold strong together as one as a witness to the love You have for us and the entire world.
Action: Connect with a family member or friend you haven’t seen or talked to recently. It doesn’t matter if it’s in person or virtual, let them know you are thinking of them and that you love them.
