A few weeks ago I was reading a story to my daughter before bedtime.
It was a story we have read together many times and on this occasion I misread one of the words in the story.
I tried to continue as if nothing happened, but she stopped me mid-sentence to explain what the correct wording was.
My daughter does not know how to read yet, but she still recognized the true words of the story.
In Romans 10:14-17, Apostle Paul laments the nation of Israel’s lack of faith despite the word of God being presented to them continually through the scriptures, prophets, and most importantly the person of Jesus:
How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written:
“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace,
Who bring glad tidings of good things!”
But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Those who have truly heard the Word of God will respond in faith.
Prayer: Lord please forgive me. I have heard Your word and not obeyed it fully. Create a clean heart in me that I would follow Your ways all the days of my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Action: What has the Lord told you to do that you’ve been ignoring? Start on the path of obedience this week and follow His instructions.
