Debris, a new television series, depicts the aftermath of an alien spacecraft whose wreckage has fallen to earth causing various scientific anomalies to occur.
In one episode, a piece of the alien wreckage terraforms the surrounding environment into a chlorine based atmosphere.
This process renders all life within the newly transformed environment unable to survive outside of the area where the atmosphere exists.
In Genesis 3:17-19,22-24 we see Adam and Eve removed from the only environment that could sustain them after they disobeyed God.
And He said to Adam, “Because you listened to your wife’s voice and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘Do not eat from it’:
The ground is cursed because of you. You will eat from it by means of painful labor all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. You will eat bread by the sweat of your brow until you return to the ground, since you were taken from it. For you are dust, and you will return to dust.”
The Lord God said, “Since man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil, he must not reach out, take from the tree of life, eat, and live forever.” So the Lord God sent him away from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken. He drove man out and stationed the cherubim and the flaming, whirling sword east of the garden of Eden to guard the way to the tree of life.
The Holy Spirit allows you to live in God’s original atmosphere for your life.
Prayer: Father in Heaven in thank you for sending Your Son Jesus as a sacrifice so that I could return to the one environment I belong. Through the power of the Holy Spirit allow me to transform the atmosphere around me into one that draws people closer to You.
Action: The Holy Spirit that resides in you can shift atmospheres. How are you using your influence? Have an honest discussion with God about it this week.
