My daughter recently discovered the word anthropomorphic.
She asked me why many animals in cartoons can talk and do things like people.
I explained to her that the creators of those cartoons wanted to give the animals characteristics and expressions that were similar to people so that the audience could better relate to the characters.
In John 1:1-4,14 we see that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ took on human characteristics to better relate to His creations:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Jesus is God’s expression of love to all of humanity.
Prayer: God thank You for sending Jesus. We can’t even understand or explain why You would be so merciful to us but we receive it fully. Let the love You showed to us through Jesus shine a light on everyone we encounter.
Action: Be the light this week. If you encounter viewpoints or situations that offend you don’t engage them in a negative way. Instead pray for calming words to speak into the conversation. If you can’t find a calming word to speak, it’s ok to just walk away and pray for clarity.
