Today, honey crisp is the third most grown variety of apple in the United States and it continues to grow in popularity each year.
However, in the mid 1970s the honey crisp apple was once scheduled to be discarded.
During the cultivation process the seedling for the honey crisp was badly damaged during winter and there was concern that a lack of hardiness would limit its ability to grow effectively in adverse conditions.
In Matthew 21:42-44, Jesus chastises the religious leaders for seeking to discard the One they should seek after:
Then Jesus asked them, “Didn’t you ever read this in the Scriptures?
‘The stone that the builders rejected
has now become the cornerstone.
This is the Lord’s doing,
and it is wonderful to see.’
I tell you, the Kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a nation that will produce the proper fruit. Anyone who stumbles over that stone will be broken to pieces, and it will crush anyone it falls on.
Jesus traded His rejection for your redemption.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for taking on our sin so we could be redeemed. You endured rejection so we could be accepted eternally. We give you all the honor and the glory and the praise.
Action: Are there any areas in your life in need of redemption? Ask Jesus to redeem those areas not just for your satisfaction but for His glory. Watch Him move.
