When Madonna penned the song Like a Prayer in 1989, she was at a creative crossroads.

She wanted to share and discuss topics with her audience in a way she never had before.

Madonna described ‘Like a Prayer’ as the song about a passionate young girl “so in love with God that it is almost as though He were the male figure in her life.”

While the music video and lyrics to the song attracted much controversy, the song went on to sell over 5 million copies world wide.

In Psalms 73:21-26, the Psalmist expresses his love for God in a way that makes his devotion and reverence unmistakable:

When my heart was grieved and my spirit embittered,
I was senseless and ignorant; I was a brute beast before you.
Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand.
You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory. Whom have I in heaven but you?  And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

There are no words that can describe God’s love for you.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for loving me more than I can ever love myself. Words cannot describe what You’ve done for me. Help me to share that love with others in a way that turns them towards Your Face.

Action: Take a moment and consider this. The Creator of the universe and all things in it loves you more than anything. Take a moment to smile and give Him praise.
