Dr. Ravi Zacharias was a world renowned Christian apologist and minister who published over thirty books and founded Ravi Zacharias International Ministries.
Following his death in 2020, Dr. Zacharias was accused by multiple women of sexual abuse and misconduct.
After an investigation substantiated the allegations many publishers removed his books from print and other organizations, including the ministry he founded, removed all references to him.
Because the actions of Dr. Zacharias were not consistent with who he claimed to be, his vast works, which span nearly 4 decades, have largely lost much of the positive influence they once possessed.
In 1 Peter 2:12-16 we see the importance of making sure our actions preserve our witness for Christ:
Live honorable lives as you mix with unbelievers, even though they accuse you of being evildoers. For they will see your beautiful works and have a reason to glorify God in the day he visits us.
In order to honor the Lord, you must respect and defer to the authority of every human institution, whether it be the highest ruler or the governors he puts in place to punish lawbreakers and to praise those who do what’s right.
For it is God’s will for you to silence the ignorance of foolish people by doing what is right.
As God’s loving servants, you should live in complete freedom, but never use your freedom as a cover-up for evil.
Your actions are a true reflection of your witness for Christ.
Prayer: Lord I pray that in this new year my actions (thought, word, and deed) would be congruent with my identity in You. Let all my interactions (spoken and unspoken) with people reflect the love and mercy You have so graciously given me.
Action: First take a moment and thank God for allowing you to see a new year. Second, don’t focus on making resolutions but on establishing godly habits that will make sure your character reflects Christ in all of your actions.
