A few weeks ago I converted my daughter’s car seat from a high back booster to a backless booster.
My daughter quickly noticed the backless booster afforded her greater range of motion and she began to move around in ways she hadn’t before.
I cautioned her that she must not use the increased limits of mobility as an excuse not to sit safely at all times.
In Romans 6:14-18 Paul warns believers not to use the grace of God frivolously:
For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.
What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means!
Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?
But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.
God’s grace must never be taken for granted.
Prayer: Dear God thank You for Your grace. Without it my hope for restoration and salvation would be lost. Allow me to apply the same grace You have given to me in my interactions with others.
Action: It’s easy to take God’s grace for granted. What areas of your life are good that you taken for granted? Take a moment and write these down. Then give God thanks for His covering over these areas of your life.
