One of These Days is a song performed by Santana featuring Ozomatli from Santana’s 2003 album titled Shaman.
The song speaks of the coming joy associated with liberation, celebrating the day where those who are poor and marginalized will overturn the very system which has kept them oppressed.
Way down here on these dead end streets
People live in doubt and fear
And it kept them down for oh so long
Now their time is getting near
Well, I don’t know where
I don’t know how
I don’t know when
But I’ll tell you right now
One of these days, you’ll cross that line
The people gonna take you by surprise
They’re gonna look their leaders in the eye
One of these days, you’ll cross that line
The people gonna think with their own minds
They’re gonna leave the system far behind
Psalm 146 celebrates the only ‘system’ that can truly provide liberation:
Praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord, my soul.
I will praise the Lord all my life;
I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save.
When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing.
Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God.
He is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them— he remains faithful forever.
He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry.
The Lord sets prisoners free, the Lord gives sight to the blind, the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down, the Lord loves the righteous.
The Lord watches over the foreigner and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.
The Lord reigns forever, your God, O Zion, for all generations.
Praise the Lord.
The Lord liberates all those who trust in Him.
Prayer: Lord thank You for liberating me from sin and death. I repent for trusting in people and systems to deliver only what You can! Continue to guide me in all of Your ways.
Action: What areas of your life need liberation? Marriage? Finances? Career? Pray and ask for deliverance from the burdens that plague your area(s) of need.
