In Marvel Comics canon ‘The Snap’ is one of the most significant and destructive events to ever take place. Possessing a singular focus to restore balance to all of creation, Thanos wiped out half of all life in the universe with a snap of his fingers. While we rarely look at death as something that can restore balance to our lives, there is one death that brings the hope of restoration to all of mankind. In John 10:11,14-15,17-18,27-30: Jesus speaks of His authority to lay down His life so that man shall live eternally: “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. “I am the good shepherd. I know My own sheep, and they know Me, as the Father knows Me, and I know the Father. I lay down My life for the sheep. This is why the Father loves Me, because I am laying down My life so I may take it up again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down on My own. I have the right to lay it down, and I have the right to take it up again. I have received this command from My Father.” My sheep hear My voice, I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish—ever! No one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.” Through Jesus, the Kingdom of Heaven has been restored to us. |
